Live Sets (Sheffield 28/06/1990 & Osaka 31/05/1993)
Just been listening 2 sets by 808 and I was wondering do these exist in better quality recordings?:
Sheffield 28/06/07 (Medium Quality):
Intro (Blues Bros?)
1. Cobra Bora
2. Olympic State (with Graham on Clarinet!)
3. TSTA (Mc Tunes)
4. NIAIH (Mc Tunes)
5. In Yer Face
6. Boneyween
7. Donkey Doctor
8. TORTB (Mc Tunes)
9. Cubik
10.Pacific State (Sounds like Optical live version-with Graham doing a stuttery Clarinet at the end)
11.Sunrise
Sunrise sounding like a self help tape with the vocals (is it Graham doing the voice overs?) and Loving you - Minnie Ripperton (1974)? being mixed in - which works really well!
Osaka Japan 1993 (Low Quality):
Intro (2001/Blues Bros?)
1. La Luz
2. Leo Leo
3. Gimme Shelter (as on Website)
4. Lemon
5. Plan 9
6. Timebomb
7. One in Ten
8. 10x10
9. 10x10
10. Contrique
11. Colony
12. IYF
13. Pacific
14. Cubik
15. Body to Body (soft Ballet track-808 Veresion)
Have you got the whole set Markus or Nick? If we cant have the whole set could we have timebomb for a download? I never though it matched up to the rest of 808s material but listening to the live version it sounds great!
Darren is doing the voice over - and no offence to the Sheffield Voiceover but Darren is a natural at getting the audience going!
Has 808 State done any other remixes live on stage?
Is there other Bootlegs out thedre? And how can we get hold of them?
We have been well looked after as fans with the Downloads - Thanks 808 State/Markus - Please can we have another?

A future gig you've already got a recording of?BADGERMAN wrote:Sheffield 28/06/07 (Medium Quality)
Badge, I think I've mentioned it before, please one question per posting. Chance that you'll ever receive any answers are pretty much zero if you pack tons of questions into one thread.
Please eleviate on the exact dates of the gigs (Osaka was presumably 31:May 93?). And where the recordings originate from.
Thanks!
M.

OK Badgerman, have received the CDs (you sent them to my old address). What a fantastic document of time the Sheffield gig is! Obviously a crowd bootleg, but sometimes the awful sound quality of a bootleg does have something romantic about it, right? Nice to hear Martin doing the announcements.
Will try to get this on the site before the 08.08, can't guarantee it though as converting work is necessary.
Thanks Badger!

The Sheffield live gig bootleg recording has been uploaded. I thought I would be able to get rid of the pauses between tracks, but I've realised that the CD I received already had pauses. Well, the quality of the recording is terrible sometimes, but it doesn't matter - a fantastic historic document
Download the 1990 Sheffield live gig in the gigs section. Thanks Badgerman.

Brother Markus,
Why don't we post the classic 1991 cities in the park recording that I sent ya a few years back? That one's 'not bad' in quality until it hit's Cubik and IYF.
I remember finding that cassette at a Toronto store called Penny Lane. They used to sell TONS of live bootlegs. Awesome stuff.
I still listen to it. Cheers!

OMG!
The Sheffield recording features the Pacific "live version" as know only from the Optical 90 end credits. The very sequence at the Optical 90 is found on the Sheffield show available here from 51:24 to 52:28 (the Optical 90 fades here and features additional sounds by Darren on the decks).
This is, as I have mentioned numerous times, a holy grail for me (see this thread). I have always been confident that the end credit music is not a snippet of any of the released remixes. And here is the proof. In 2007. It is definetly an additional remix done as an edit of the Pacific State and the Pacific 303 versions. Made as backing for Graham live saxophone. And assumably made months after the Pacific 12"'es was released.
Graham. We want this version! Please.
It has been a mystery and a wanted since 1992. 15 f****** years.
Apart from this totally amasing discovery, I totally agree with Marcus. This recording as absolutely massive 808 State history. Thanks to everybody who made it possible for us to have it here.
