Oh yes. Sorry.

It is the groovy sounded middel selection of mine, before the more 808 fingerprinted tunes kick in.

This is my dream selection.

personally i'd use the opportunity of the bonus disc to put tracks on that have not been easily available on CD before. as much as i like nbambi, it's not a "bonus track", it's a b-side that i already have on CD, and if i wanted to hear it in the context of an album, well it's easy these days to make your own compilations, more so with MP3 players. to miss off a track like insane lover but have nbambi on seems a bit pointless, and i'd feel like a little bit of my cash spent on buying the re-release is being wasted. the same goes for 10x10 black eye. by all means if there's room and it's a popular choice, go for it, but not at the expense of either of the insane lover or freak mixes.

in view of this i'd also replace guitars on fire with choki galaxy, as it's never had a UK CD release before.

i think the disco disc should be on there considering it was an integral part of the original LP release. and an unreleased version of nbambi would be sweet!

This is simply where you and I disagree. Esspecially when I actually listen the IL compared to the other stuff on my selection.

I think it should be possible, for a complete newbie, to buy all the albums with bonus discs and then get the best music off the 808 hands. But also the full palette, all tracks, in atleast one version each.

My strategy is

1. Exclusive tracks not included on ordinary albums.

2. Early promo versions that are to an extend better or interesting of their own.

3. Good remixes (808 own ones) that contribute something new.

It is true that I compromise 1) for Insane Lover, but I feel that the others chosen are so much better. I would have to leave out 10x10 (beats) and Moses remix for it. I could accept that for the completeness, but would perfer not to.

I do not see the bonus discs as collections of vinyl only stuff.

I do not say that the re-issues are for newbies. But it should be the strategy.

Ah yes, good subject, who actually is the target audience of these re-issues? I guess first it's us (fans, spaceship spotters, nerds, completists), second newbies. When it comes to personal tastes, it becomes impossible to suit everyone. Tricky.

Just checked it and isn't simply a case of an early fade-out like with many edit versions. It sounds like the regular version a first, but then after while into the track, the arrangement is broken up differently. Don't think it warrants an appearance on the bonus disc though, as it's not different enough.

Nick alerted me to this posting by Graham in which he mentions that the Insane Lover / Freak DAT is corrupted. So maybe the problem of including it will be solved by itself? ;)

They still have the multi-track and they can mix it again.

Agree with Rodders, the Choki galaxy mix is better than guitars on fire. Also agree with the point about Nbambi, although I would rather see some 808 tracks stay as collectable it seems daft to add Nbambi and leave off Insane Lover or Freak. Likewise with all the 10x10 mixes, I know its difficult for us as we all seem to like differing ones but surely we can only have room for 1 maybe 2 at a push?

But hey, thats the beauty of asking our opinion!!!

Well if the choice is nbambi OR insane love/freak, of course the ideal is including the last two. But I think there'll be room for everything right?

It does. So does Mondonet. It is a question if any of those sitting exclusively on compilations. Are they available.

I think we've agreed that tracks from State2State1 are not essential on the Gorgeous bonus CD, right? I've compiled what I think we've agreed on in 808 ZTT CD bonus re-issues: proposed tracklistings. Haven't had time yet to add all the running times. Please check if I've forgotten anything essential.

Seems like everyone agrees then. I've now added times and in the present listing it clocks up at about 72:00. That's with the long version of Reaper Repo and with only one version each of Insane Lover & Freak. And it's not counting Nbambi, Femme Deluxe, Lemon and Purple Dust.
I'm sure there still be a few changes, especially if alternate unreleased versions of tracks exist... we then may have to loose tracks that are commonly available.

I have the same problem with Give me Shelter as I do with 10x10 gorgeous mix, I dont think it shows off the full creative force of 808.

I think that the list is good although I wouldnt include the 7" Moses as there is hardly any difference.

It is going to be difficult to keep everyone happy as 808 state fans are very diverse in music tastes due to 808s diverse music. It definately has to keep the fans happy but also have comercial success with the newbies -so the rare stuf has to be good and nopt just included because its rare.

Any live tracks that can be added - in the past there was talk of 808 doing Nimbus live on Granada (I think?!). Or any cool fantastic unheard of tracks in the 808 vaults??
