John, Nick and I have to delete about a dozen fake registrations on a daily basis and it's increasing. The main reason for spammers to register is because they can place a link to their website, hoping someone will visit and hoping to achieve a higher ranking in Google.
Registrations that link to porn / casinos / drugs etc are deleted immediately. In order to fight the spammers, please ensure the following:
New registrations:
Is is essential that you submit a valid e-mail address. If you don't, you won't be able to post any messages as this forum requires account activation. Your e-mail address will not be visible to others as long as you leave the default setting in your profile which is "Always show my e-mail address: NO".
If you register with a valid e-mail address you will immediately receive a mail asking you to confirm / activate your account. Once you've done that, your account is activated. As of today: Registrations that have not been activated within 48 hours will be deleted.
Active users:
Please review your profile and ensure you are using a valid and current e-mail address.
Inactive users:
We have quite a lot of users who have never posted a message. This is strange as you only have to register if you want to post a message. It gets suspicious if you did not activate your account. And even more so if you have published a link to another site in your profile. We may choose to do a database clean-up one of these days and delete accounts that have never posted a message as well as not been activated.
Thanks for your cooperation.
The agents.

Right, the anti-bot mod has been reinstated and the long-announced user database clean-up has been performed! If you suddenly find you can no longer log in, it means you have never posted a message and haven't visited within the last six months.
Remember: If you are not going to post a message, you don't need to register!
