Maarten van der Vleuten - TZ 2 In Your Face

Post by markus »

I've finally uploaded the fantastic TZ 2 'In Your Face' bootleg (a kind of ex:el medley). Released back in '91, it was on the TZ label, a mysterious label with no track or artist information at all. I collected the entire TZ collection at the time, and thought that they were all by Marcos Salon. We now know that this particular EP was actually Maarten van der Vleuten and that TZ meant TestZone which was a sub-label of R&S Records.

Says Maarten: "The TZ series was surrounded by a lot of secrecy back then, which made it extra interesting.
The story behind TZ 2 really isn't that exciting though. I sampled sounds from all kinds of records (808 State amongst others) en made a new track out of them. R&S heard it and wanted to release it. Seeing that the tracks didn't sound like a typical R&S record, we decided to release it on the TZ label."

Details of the original release:
Maarten van der Vleuten - TZ 2

Used to have a couple of the TZ records which were superb. Had one which I managed to track down on this CD -

Outlander - Birdy. It was untitled on my vinyl version. Think Suck Me Plasma maybe just called it Birdy because of the bird chirp sample all through it.

On a side note I had this great record as well. Didn't realise it was Maarten who done it -

Well done Markus - different to what I was expecting - was expecting it to be more of a megamix - different.

Keep em coming.
