Sunset 102 - Help Required

Dear 808 State radio show fans,
I'm making a serious effort to catalogue and upload as many Sunset 102 sets as possible

There are no 808 sets there yet, as they are already on YouTube, however I will work through those that are available and upload them soon. A few people are sending over tapes of previously unripped shows, including some 808 radio shows that aren't yet on the site.

I wanted to ask here if anyone has any Sunset tapes or mixes that I haven't yet got so they can be uploaded? Hopefully to remain for future generations.
I have a minty fresh TEAC W-1200 for doing the ripping, and will look after and take care of any tapes, and return them swiftly.

the list above is what I have actually managed to catalogue and upload so far. Brady kindly sent me lots of Sunset stuff including the 808 shows, and they are being worked through and uploaded. A few people have promised to send tapes (including 808 stuff) that have previously not been ripped, so hoping they arrive soon so I can get them uploaded for all to enjoy!

That's great news! It would be fantastic if we could also have them here, to have an archive as complete as possible. There are quite a few shows on Youtube that we don't have here, for instance https://www.youtube.com/c/ChrisP420/search?query=808%20state . I've unsuccessfully tried to get in touch with the account owner. I prefer to ask rather than just ripping the shows.
Anyway, looking forward to your recordings with 808 involvement! It's an impressive list already.

I wouldn't be too worried about ripping that guys shows, he is 100% not the source of them.
He even posts comments like on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8wb1hV3t7o&t=4235s

"welcome, glad you found them a friend of mine, like most people recorded them to tape, he left them all to me so I had to share them as a reminder of the good old days, when music had some originality"

it's pretty clear that his recordings (including all the edits, cuts, etc) match exactly those that are available to download from this site. so his story about being left a load of tapes is a bit of a lie? I suspect those he has that aren't on here were probably also taken from other available sources.

if you can get a list over I will compare with what I have and perhaps get any missing ones sent over so you can share them. I don't claim to be the original recorder of any of these shows, I am simply trying to catalogue, date and upload them all for everyone to enjoy. Most of the Sami B shows came from eBay, someone selling a load of tapes. The hard work was actually listening and figuring out what they were. I say hard, it made my commute to work absolutely glorious!

Infact, in 1991 I was 10 years old, I had a passion for taking stereos/boomboxes apart and putting them back together. I discovered Sunset and it set me on a journey, I actually recorded many 808 and Sami B shows, but those tapes are long long gone . I think 1991/1992 has to be my favourite period in music, never to be repeated, I imagine it was a very special time for a lot of people.

Imagine the fun had in the Sunset studio! Ahhhh...

Hi again, yes everything we've collected over the years is on https://www.808state.com/sounds/808djs.htm . Indeed it's been a long time since we've had any new 90s shows. A lot of the shows were provided by Mark from properoldskool.co.uk, but he no longer seems to be active.
Nice one (10th Dec 1991), though crackly. I too used to edit out the ads (the annoying ones).
