Masseymix for Simian Mobile Disco - It's The Beat

This is what Boomkat have to say:
Freshly signed to Wichita, Jas Ford and James Shaw unleash the first taster of their forthcoming LP, Attack Sustain Decay Release, with a monstrous synth riff straight out of the Technotronic `Pump Up The Jam' school of hit making. Nice job. On this CD version you get both the edited and complete versions of the original track, plus an immense, schizoid remix courtesy of Graham Massey that swaggers all over the shop with an array of different drum machine tricks and even some nifty edits from an acoustic kit towards the end. It's a real tour de force. ...

Full format details on the SMD page of the discography now. Cheers Nick.
Virgin had it in stock in Taunton (although at the moment vinyl only) - wasn't expecting it to be on sale here as I am usually dissapointed.
Picked up the Freemasons CD aswell - wasn't really my cup of tea - its quite sad what I will buy for the 808 collection:
Pacific Saxapella tagged on to the end of Freemasons Atlantic. (This has probally been covered before - I mean the topic has - as the track has definately been covered a few times!). And it is a cover of the track with someone else doing the sax - with 808 lads (the exel line up as the writers).
Back to its the Beat - cant wait to hear it - may have to make a makeshift record player out of a cup and a needle. Keep the releases coming.

I see what you mean, the masseymix edit remains exclusive to the promo CD on CD format.nickking wrote:No Massey edit mix, by the looks of it
My general thoughts on the Masseymix (13:50, long version) :
I don't often say this when it comes to Graham or 808, but I'm disappointed by this mix. Part 1 (which is basically the edit available on 12") features sort of freestyle keys, don't like that at all. Part 2 (the acid part), which kicks in at 04:39 and goes until 09:00 is great, really like that. Parts 3 and 4 don't do it for me, too freestyle. So in my opinion, I'd have preferred 4 separate mixes instead of this megamix thing. Still, I really like the original and, as mentioned, the Acid part.
