KRAFTWERK REVIEW - SPOILER
MANCHESTER APOLLO
The German maestros were taking a risk entering Manc 808 territory, but they were given a respectful response by the adoring crowd.
As the curtains unveiled to the men in suits in trademark pose, the roof lifted as opening track Man Machine played to a wall of graphics.
Throughout the opening tracks the band remained motionless bar a few smiles and the tweek of a knee or a foot in sync with the melody. It was almost like looking into a cybercafe and observing business executives checking their E-mails. It became rather tedious but at the same time enthralling to observe.
The performance is very reliant on the graphics and it was the image changes that got more of a cheer than the music itself. Recognisable classics were received well with the appropriate footage, Autobahns er Autobahns and Tour de Frances’ er Tour de France being two that complimented themselves.
Trans Europe Express seemed to provide the biggest spontaneous roar and was certainly my highlight.
As the curtains closed for what seemed an age they then reopened to the Robots having taken to the stage where they performed their signature tune in synchronisation.
As we all thought that was it, the curtains closed but the lights stayed dim and sure enough the band returned dressed in glow green one piece lycra tron outfits where they performed three more tracks including Pocket Calculator and also gave a personal science lesson with Radioactivity.
They then left the stage in turn either bowing or giving a slight wave leaving the remaining members to play out the final track, with just one member then left giving a solo performance, it was his turn to finish the night with ‘Goodnight Manchester’.
A unique performance and a unique evening probably never to be repeated, we all stood in awe throughout the entire night and no other band has the history to accomplish such a feat.

Coolsearch? Yuk!
Horrible spyware program that forces IE to go to their site each time you open IE...
(if anyone ever gets annoyed by that, try and download the program "cwshredder", btw)
Probably better to go through Soulseek/Kazaa Lite (or something similar)...
Oh, and for those in the UK, there's a Kraftwerk 2004 concert being shown on Channel 4 on Wednesday night at 11pm!

Nick
