I don't actually have the CD-R, but I do have the same mix on another CD single, i.e. the following:

CD5: 1993 GE (ZTT / WEA; ZANG 38 CDDJ)
3:41 Plan 9 (Unlabeled DJ Edit)
4:56 Olympic '93 (the word mix)
4:41 Plan 9 (guitars on fire mix)
4:18 Nbambi (the april showers mix)

It's a normal Plan 9 CD single with a sticker on the front stating

ZANG 38 CD DJ
DJ EDIT
3:41

As for the actual mix, it sounds quite different, but then my ears aren't that great at distinguishing the difference between edits!

I have this CD5 (dj edit). Are you saying that track one is Plan 9 demo?

Hi Pete,

There is a CD-R with the same mix that you and I have, although I've never seen a copy for sale (I'm sure that Markus has one! :P ).

BTW, I'll be listening to your tune later on today - haven't forgotten!

Indeed I have this CD-R (one of the only 808 CD-Rs I have by the way). Don't know if calling it an acetate or demo is going a bit far, however I can confirm that the version on the CD-R is the same as the DJ edit which features on the CD ZANG 38 CD DJ. Maybe Graham can enlighten us to why there was this obscure DJ edit. If he remembers :)

Thanks everybody for your replies!
If the version is the same as the CDDJ, would it be possible this one was made prior to the other one, just for testing? I guess kind of like a 12" Test Pressing?

I am also interested to know more about the CD itself... I guess that's my collector's side  I actually have one Stanley Productions CD-R demo/acetate, but by the band 'The Sisters of Mercy'... I am curious to know if the 808 state CD-R is similar. Here is te description og the one I have:

CD itself is plain gold on top and blue at the bottom
Numbers on the CD are: EE2A2 0447Q63
CD-R63 MFD. BY TAIYO YUEN CO..LTD. MAD IN JAPAN PC0104

There is a front insert with info about the song. At the back of the front insert, there is 'SP' and 'Stanley Productions' written in Blue.

The regular CD was released in 1993, same as 'Plan 9'....

Thanks again!!!!
