Post by graham »

Ive had a couple of random conversations recently, about a site that trades concerts by bandscalled something like burnt tree.I havent been able to find it ..any one know what it might be (these conversations always tae place away from pens in noisey bars)..Apparently Peter Hook is putting some New order gigs on it, I m going to have a dig and see what we might have thats any good ..So far there is the tokyo gig ,Trondhiem, ,Benacasim ,Cologne..whats the bbc one (london some where)
I wish we d recorded any of the usa tour ones cant think why we did nt

Don't know the site (I'm sure someone else will), but here remarks to the gigs:

Tokyo would be great. We've had small tastes of that through the soundspage as with Trondheim. Didn't know Cologne had been recorded, nice one (shame about the crowd turnout). I seem to remember you said you recorded Lowlands festival in Holland. Benicassim & London T&C Kentish have been made available previously, though of course high-quality would be nice. Oh and the Castlefield Manchester (Don Solaris) gig was recorded too.

One day I hope there will be an official 808 State live CD. Wonder if it should be from one gig, or a collection from one tour (like Kraftwerk's latest effort) or a collection from various years? Probably the latter. :)

I'm moving this from 'music' to 'general 808state discussion', to make sure it gets enough attention :)

I've got a superb copy of the Town and Country gig in 93. If I can help let me know.

Any decent versions of live stuff would be great, the newer live versions of the classics ala Cubik from State to State would also be good to hear.

CONCERTS

Post by N.JOHNSON »

Graham;

I have some concert footage of the 808 support act that you did when supporting the happy Mondays at G mex. I assume it was the same time as the stage was same as the Mondays live at G mex.

I have a mate who is going to put it onto dvd as it is on a VHS. I want it transfering so that it doesnt lose any more quality. But he is sorting out his marriage at the mo so has not had the time but it will get done.

the track list is:

cobra bora
Ancodia
The Only Rhyme That Bites
Cubik
Revenge Of The Girlie Men
Pacific 303

Running time 20-30 Mins

Looking at that flyer how come we didnt do wembley and MC Buzby did,

I love a copy if you get round to it.

It could be because the Energy rave was a week later (in London) that you played live at?

A downloable version for the site would be nice too.

Getting back to the orginal topic, I don't see any added value in putting any live recordings on that site. I originally thought it would make 808 some money, but since it's a sort of semi-illegal Torrent site, it will probably be off the air soon. Just as well upload those gigs to the 808 site. :)

Yeah, if it makes the gigs available for those that haven't heard of 808, then that would be a good thing, so most definitely a good idea.
