I currently call myself De Lillie, but it's the same old me. just an idea to chew on and tell me what you think.Ok, here goes. 808 State does a lot for us. How about suggesting to the boys that they release a ''pay for download" single with say a limited release (500 copies) vinyl 12" single? That way it will be eligible to chart on the Official UK singles chart. Gorillaz did just that with a single and saw it debut at # 22! with just 300 physical 7" singles sold.
Even John Otway (now who the f*ck is that?) reached the UK top 10 with 'Bunsen Burner' which was bought only by his fans in 2004. Charts give exposure to unknown bands. The great uninitiated buy the material BECAUSE IT IS IN THE CHARTS. Hell even the Greatful Dead had a US Top 10 hit.
Use us the hardcore fans to hype them into the charts. Alternatively, Elton John achieved a # 4 new entry with a download single you could purchase via your cellphone (mobile phone) by sending an sms (text).
